template overlays
More than 100,000 template overlays, replacing repetitive manual image preparation for marketplace listings.
Where it started
A client needed to prepare many similar product images. I built a desktop tool around that workflow.
The problem
Cut, paste, crop, repeat. Much of the image preparation was manual even though the layout rules were the same.
What I built
- Built a Windows desktop application with Flet
- Implemented configurable template zones and layout modes
- Added batch image processing and color detection
- Integrated S3 and Excel into the client workflow
How it evolved
The first client uses it daily and referred a second customer. I adapted the tool to their process too. It is now being developed into a free public product.
The outcome
Over 100,000 template overlays across 21,000 listings, with at least five templates each. This is processing volume, not a user or download count.
What this demonstrates
Turning a manual workflow into a daily-use tool, processing images in batches and adapting the solution to different customers.
